Kids participate in classes covering world drumming

The FCPS has announced a new summer arts program geared towards elementary school students: the Elementary Institute for the Arts.  If any of you residents at Reserve at Regency Park have children in that age group, this is something to keep in mind as you look ahead and start making plans.  I know, I know; Spring has just started, but Summer will be here before we know it! Besides, it’s never too early to plan, right?

The program, which is open to students currently in grades 3-5, opens in conjunction with the Institute for the Arts, which is in its 25th year.  Both will be held at Lake Braddock Secondary School.

The program will go for two weeks, from July 16th-27th.  It will include classes in drama, dance, music and visual art.  The first week, each student will attend one of each of these classes, and there will be a different set of classes the second week.  No prior experience in each of these areas is required.  Some of the class topics will include world drumming, music composition, stage combat, clay modeling, modern dance and sculptural play.

Do we have any aspiring young artists here at Reserve at Regency Park?
